The Real Club Náutico Barcelona was proclaimed, in Roses, champion of Campionat de Catalunya de Vela in the Optimist category after beating the best of three regattas to the Club Náutico El Balís in a closely contested final. CN Balís moved ahead of RCN Barcelona by winning the first race. But in the second, when it seemed that the sailors from Sant Andreu de Llavaneres would sentence the championship, the sailors from the Club Nàutic de Barcelona knew how to rally to tie in the final and also win the third and final regatta to become champions of Catalunya of Optimist team teams. .

In the consolation final, Club Náutico El Masnou beat Club Náutico Cambrils by winning the first two races.

This Campionat de Catalunya for Optimist teams was contested by the 11 best yacht clubs in the Catalan ranking (CN Cambrils, CN El Balís, CN Vilanova, Real CN Barcelona, ​​CN El Masnou, CN l’Escala, CN Garraf, CN Palamós, CV Blanes , CN Vilassar de Mar and GEN Roses). A competition in which 55 tests had to be played on Saturday to compete against each other. Barcelona, ​​June 11, 2024 – The XEIC boat, representing the Reial Club Nàutic de Barcelona (RCNB), has obtained victory in the 38th edition of the prestigious Brindisi-Corfu Race in the ORC Group 2, Cruiser Class and Vintage Class categories . This race, with a route of 110 nautical miles, is one of the most important competitions in the Mediterranean, bringing together more than a hundred teams from various countries.

Under the leadership of Joaquim Barenys and with a crew made up of RCNB members, the XEIC not only stood out in its specific categories, but also achieved the silver medal in the general classification, being only behind the Maxi Prosecco Doc (Ex- Alfa Romeo).

This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication and talent of the XEIC team and RCN Barcelona. The crew has once again demonstrated the club’s excellence in international sailing competitions.

CaixaBank has presented today, at its corporate headquarters in Barcelona, a new sponsorship agreement that will link the financial entity with the Sail Team BCN, which under the banner of the Reial Club Nàutic Barcelona, will be the only Spanish team that will participate in the Youth & Puig Women’s America’s Cup. The boat will represent Spain in the two competitions: the Copa América Femenina, which will be held for the first time in the history of the event, and the Copa América Juvenil, contested by crew members under 25 years of age.

Specifically, the Copa América Juvenil will be held from September 26 to October 2 and the Copa América Femenina from October 10 to 16, on the same regatta course as the Youth & Puig Women America’s Cup.
Sail Team BCN has received approval from America’s Cup Event (ACE) and Emirates Team New Zealand to be the Spanish challenger for the event in 2024.

Sail Team BCN will participate in two categories, with two different teams: an all-female team made up of a maximum of eight women and another youth team made up of a maximum of eight young sailors between 18 and 25 years old.

The selection process has been open to any Spanish athlete and their sports resume and knowledge of foil sailing have been assessed. The final selection of the youth and women’s teams is scheduled to be announced at the end of January. In the medium and long term, the Sail Team BCN aspires to build a platform of talent that allows it to compete in all categories of the future Copa América.

As the official sponsor of Sail Team BCN, the financial entity will be present in the image on the sail and hull of the boat, the team base and all the crew’s clothing.
